WATER BILLING:
Our department collects meter readings four (4) times a year. Water bills are mailed out quarterly and due within 30 days.
All water bills totaling $100 and above that are not paid in full by September 30 will result in a lien being placed on the Real Property for which services were provided AND an administrative fee of $300 will be assessed.
Please call our office with any questions or for more clarification.
PAYMENTS:
Water bill payments are accepted in person at the Town Clerk's window in Town Hall, via US Mail and in the secure drop box located outside the Town Hall entrance doors.
We are now accepting credit/debit cards (in person only) for water payments. There is a convenience fee assessed on credit/debit payments:
- Charges up to $74.00 will incur a $1.75 fee.
- Charges above $74.00 will incur a 2.45% fee on the bill. The convenience fee goes directly to the credit card company, not the Town.
Payments MUST be received in the Town Clerk's office by the close of businees (4pm) of the DUE DATE listed on the bill; otherwise it is considered late and a penalty will be applied. Payments put in the drop box after 4pm or received in the mail after the due date will be considered late. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS. If you have any questions please call 716-433-7664 x114.
MOVING?
If you are planning to sell your home, be sure to call the Water Department to schedule a compliance inspection. A compliance inspection ensures that the home has a backflow preventor/double check valve. The Town performs the compliance inspection at no charge to the homeowner. However, if your home fails the inspection, you may incur charges from a plumber to install the valve.
Failure to schedule the compliance inspection could postpone your closing date so call early to schedule.
Once you have a closing date, call the Water Department to schedule a final reading. Please provide us with an address to mail your final bill (required) and the name of the new owner (required).
WATER METER REPLACEMENT PROGRAM
We are continuing to upgrade the water meters throughout the Town to the new AMR meter. Replacing your meter generally takes about 30 minutes or less and there is no cost to the homeowner. You may receive a door hanger outside your home at some point asking you to call us to schedule a replacement. Additionally, if your quarterly bill doesn't list any water "consumption", call the Water Department and we can schedule a new meter install.
We appreciate your cooperation.
WATER METER POLICY FOR NEW BUILDS

New Build 1" Tap $1,035.00

Payment is to be made before installation. For larger meters or additional information, please contact our office at 716-433-7664 x114.
Water Department History
The Cambria Water District covers the entire Town of Cambria and is located in central Niagara County. In 1964 application was filed for approval of plans of the Town for establishment of a Water Distribution System. The Town of Cambria is primarily a rural and residential area. The population in 1964, according to the 1960 census was 3,661. Current population is 5,900 (2010 Census). Water for the system is supplied through the Niagara County Water District and is taken from the west branch the Niagara River and pumped across the northern end of Grand Island to the treatment plant. From this treatment plant the water is pumped to the transmission and distribution mains of the County water district and its associated Town water districts. Original waterline constructed in 1964 was 169,000 feet. Today the Town maintains 363,577 feet, with an additional 64,736 feet of lines that are jointly owned with the Niagara County Water District and neighboring towns. In 1976 the Town established a Sewer District that extends from Upper Mountain Road south. Three (3) Niagara County interceptors presently service the Town of Cambria. The Town has a collection system in a limited area of our Sewer District that is comprised of both gravity and pressure sewers.
